EdinburghSucks.com, the site that bills itself as "An attack on the politicians and officials who screw our city" failed to pick up the Independent Information award in the prestigious New Statesman New Media Awards. EdinburghSucks.com, the new kid on the block, was chosen from hundreds of nominations to be shortlisted as a finalist for the 2006 awards which were presented in London earlier this week. The site has only been in existance for a little more than a year but it has taken the city of Edinburgh by storm and is known to be essential daily reading for all politicians in Edinburgh so that they can really find out what is happening on the ground. The site keeps growing from strength to strength reaching up to 4,000 visitors per day with it's cutting commentary and expose of the failings of not only the City of Edinburgh Council but also the Scottish and Westminster parliaments. A spokesman for the site who goes under the name of "The Basa" said today "We were extremely happy with the nomination and saw it as a great lift. We then found out that we were shortlisted and against the odds we found out that we are one of the 4 finalists in the Independent Information category. It was an honour to be a finalist. But then again, isn't that what all losers say?" EdinburghSucks.com is part of an ever growing network of 59 blogs throughout the world, each with their own speciality. Comments |
